All the New Things You Need to Know

What’s New with EmberFest?

Preparations are well underway for our 19th celebration of Golden’s winter festival. This year, on February 15th, Golden will gather in Spirit Square for folklore and follies to celebrate community and creativity at EmberFest!

This upcoming weekend will be the last chance to attend the Playhouse creative space and artist-led workshops at the Civic Centre. These are FREE to attend and provide space and materials for you to create props, performances, and costumes for the festival.

We’re looking forward to a choir session as our unique workshop this weekend. Under the guidance of a passionate choir leader, you’ll learn a beautiful song with an invitation to perform it at EmberFest as part of a special community song skit. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the festival’s magic and share your voice with others! No prior experience is necessary. Whether you’re a seasoned vocalist or just someone who loves to sing in the shower, this workshop is for you. The Civic Centre will be open from 1-8 pm on Saturday and Sunday as a creating space, and the workshop will run on Sunday, February 9th, from 4-7:30 pm.

But there’s more to tell you…Kicking Horse Culture is excited to say that we’ve partnered with community organizations to bring more joy and creative spirit to your experience at the festival…

In February, the magical, wild, and silly creatures of the Columbia Valley gathered by flickering fires. They danced, laughed, and savored EmberFest Dark Lager,  a brew as smooth and creative as the music filling their enchanting, wintry night. Keep your eyes out for the new EmberFest beer, a dark lager brewed right here in Golden at Whitetooth Brewery!

Are you sorting out logistics for the festival? This could help! Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has generously expanded their shuttle times to allow more visitors and locals living on the mountain to participate. Keep an eye out for their schedule on their shuttle website (goldenshuttle.ca/kickinghorse-golden-shuttle).

In addition to all of these wonderful new things, we’re looking for volunteers to help bring EmberFest 2025 to life! Whether it’s setting the stage, welcoming guests, or lending a hand behind the scenes, there’s a role for everyone.

You can now donate to EmberFest. Your donations enable KHC to host incredible festivals and programs that bring people together. Every contribution makes a difference! Donations can now be accepted on our website: https://kickinghorseculture.ca/make-a-donation.

Sign up today and help us make this EmberFest unforgettable. Email us at PC@kickinghorseculture.ca or visit us in person at AGOG for more information about how you can get involved.
