Hailing from Calgary, the Red Hot Hayseeds are seven seriously revved-up performers of western swing, joyously continuing the toe-tapping tradition of such legends as Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys.

About The Event

Calgary’s western-swing veterans the Red Hot Hayseeds have been inspired by classic and contemporary country artists ranging from Asleep at the Wheel and the Hot Club of Cowtown to Patsy Montana and Chet Atkins. “But I’d say that Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys are our biggest musical influence,” says Hayseeds co-founder Tyler Allen, whose heart is drawn to the golden age of western music and its toe-tapping combination of jazz, blues, and country.

Once a trio, the band is now a revved-up septet, having added two new vocalist-guitarists, a vocalist, and a clarinet player. With high-profile gigs upcoming at the Stampede plus various festivals – to say nothing of a full-length CD on the way, a follow-up to their popular EP – this band is clearly on a roll. To quote Steven William Foord, musician and owner of the Owl Acoustic Lounge in Lethbridge: “The Red Hot Hayseeds are timeless in the truest sense, simultaneously fresh, yet familiar . . . a complete time warp powered by top-notch musicianship.” In other words, saddle up for a seriously good time!
