About The Event
Apollo Suns is an instrumental psychedelic jazz-rock septet that is innovative even by Winnipeg’s high standards. Formed in 2016 and influenced by such icons as Snarky Puppy, Jeff Beck, and Five Alarm Funk, the Suns released their debut EP in 2017 – with Each Day a Different Sun becoming a bit of a supernova that spent seven weeks on Earshot’s National Top 50 charts. They quickly became a go-to opening act with national reach, and have performed with everyone from The Brooks and Kobo Town to The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer and Bend Sinister.
Regulars at many important festivals, the Suns won the Western Canadian Music Award for Instrumental Artist of the Year in 2018 and again in 2020. Having released their third EP, A Relationship of Force, late in 2021, they are currently touring hard and starting to break into the U.S. market. Musically exciting but also catchily danceable, the Suns are audience favourites from coast to coast.
