About Jenn

Jennifer Bowes is an artist who lives in Brisco, British Columbia. She moved to the Columbia Valley in 2019, where she raises sheep with her daughter Ellie. She completed her Bachelors (1999) and Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (2003), in Drawing, at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She went on to teach Fine Arts at the post-secondary level for 13 years, which led her to northern British Columbia, where she ran the Visual Arts Department and taught for five years.

Bowes is influenced by her farm, but also by memories of her childhood landscape and travels. She has spent time traveling in Scotland, England, Italy, Turkey and Nepal. In all these countries, Bowes has spent the bulk of her time in rural areas, intrigued by those who live simpler lifestyles. With an interest in textiles, Jenn has combined methods of textile work with ideas of investigating the act of drawing, printmaking, repetition and manipulation of the paper surface.

Jennifer has always loved to draw, and although her life is busy with the sheep, she continues to focus on landscape and portrait drawing. She also creates textile work and/or projects using the wool from her sheep.

Registration is required, please follow the “buy tickets” link to register. Entry is free, but we encourage a $5 – $15 donation to attend this workshop. Donations will go towards a pizza for the youth during the workshop.
