MasqueParade and Costume Ball 2014

The Snow King’s MasqueParade is a community festival that hearkens back to a time when neighbours joined together to make their own entertainment and bring meaning to their lives through home-made celebration.

Beginning with the Return to the Snow King’s Castle in 2007, the creative activities that lead up to this 8th Annual Fiesta del Corazón festival weekend help us access the creative part of ourselves that can become dormant in the whirlwind of day-to-day life.  Whether it be fire spinning, pageantry, stilt walking or entrancing masque-ing, much pleasure is had as young and old come together for a common purpose… to create some low-tech but, fantastical magic!

For the Masque Costume Ball, Friday Feb. 14 we have planned a hot and steamy Valentine’s party featuring the groove heavy latino band LOCARNO with guest sets from Kootenay stompers THE GOOD OL’ GOATS! EZ Rock’s Morning Host Steve Keppler will be MC’ing the party.

Then on Saturday night Feb. 15, at twilight, our lanterns and firelight will welcome Snow King and Lady Spring down from the mountain and back into Spirit Square. The revellers will parade around the bonfire and perform a regal Pageant in their honour.  On the Snow King’s command, close to 1,000 merry folks will Parade out onto 9th Ave. N. for a street dance and party with The Good Ol’ Goats.

Scroll down to see how you, your friends, and family can be part of the celebrations! Please share the link!

Valentine’s Party and Dance kicks off at 8pm.Two great bands playing through the night with Mexican street food and Cerveza!
