Coco Love Alcorn

Equally gifted singing pop, jazz, and soul, the charismatic and oh-so-talented Coco Love Alcorn has been enchanting and uplifting audiences for over 20 years.

The daughter of noted jazz singer John Alcorn, Coco Love Alcorn grew up in a musical household and showed an early aptitude as a singer. After just one semester at Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music she moved to Vancouver and started her professional career – and success wasn’t long in coming.

Over the last 20 years she has toured as an opening act for Burton Cummings, Chantal Kreviazuk, Jesse Cook, and Ani DiFranco, has recorded 10 albums, and her songs have appeared on both film and TV soundtracks. Equally gifted singing pop, jazz, soul, and folk, Coco has always “followed her spirit” and has an uncanny ability to connect with an audience and leave them feeling uplifted.

Coco’s career took a turn in 2015 with a new album, Wonderland. She had been inspired to put down her guitar and “write with just my voice,” which involved layering vocals and rhythms on a five-track looper. A self-released video of one of those new songs, “The River,” went viral, especially amongst community choirs. Coco has always been about connection, and this new relationship with choirs literally all over the globe became a very powerful affirmation of what has become her latest spiritual journey.

Currently touring as a trio, Coco writes deeply engaging songs that she performs with a sensual, elegant alto that vibrates with the feel of gospel and old-school R&B. She’s been called the ultimate human spark plug by revered Canadian singer-songwriter James Keelaghan, who adds, “In my 30 years of touring around the world, I have never seen another performer able to bring people together like Coco does.”

Coco Love Alcorn has been on our wish list for a few years and she has many fans here in Golden who can’t wait to see her in the Civic Centre. Going to be a sparkly and uplifting Saturday night at the hall… get your tickets early and spread the word.
