Announcing our Fall 2020 Season of Live Kicks

Fall 2020 Live Kicks Season
Five “Physically distanced / Socially together” Concerts
at the Golden Civic Centre
Tix On Sale Oct 1

As we noted in last week’s update to the community, we had to postpone our Fall line-up of Live Kicks shows that were booked before the pandemic hit. In the meantime, we’ve re-imagined a Fall line-up of Live Kicks shows in the Great Hall of the Civic Centre that we believe will be entertaining and safe. Here we go!

Leading off on Friday evening October 9th, we are very proud to present the STAR of Summer Kicks 2020 in his “Off the Truck and into the Hall just for You!” tour! Tickets go on sale Oct. 1.

Lounge singers have always been ripe for parody and Golden’s own “Ricky Diamonds” gets the job done nicely thanks to his oodles of cheesy charisma, comedic flair, and a “handsome” voice ideal for presenting classic hits by the likes of Otis Redding, Roy Orbison, and Elvis. Here’s a stage-strutting dude who sports a gold lamé jacket, Freddie Mercury mustache with the sparkle-in-the-dark name of Ricky Diamonds!

Singer-songwriter John McLachlan is a folk music veteran whose multimedia Call It Home show is a musically dramatic journey that resonates deeply with audiences as it evokes memories and personal reflection on the meaning of “home” and “family.” Call it Home re-ignites glowing memories of summer vacations, explores the pains of growing up and sheds light on the realities of adulthood with its realization that we are all part of a bigger ebb and flow. The songs tell of youth, the passage of time and the vibrancy of life on Hornby Island which John McLachlan now calls home. Note that John is the man behind the exquisite design work we’ve been showing off now for about a dozen years. He played Call it Home here a couple of years ago as a thank you concert for our volunteers and Champions. Given the chance now, we wanted to share it with you all.

Coming up on Friday, November 13th are Golden’s honky tonk heroes Buddy Wackett & The Floorwalkers. These serious lovers of old-school country pick and sing some famous and obscure country classics with flair and authenticity. Beer, trucks, dogs, and divorce … you’ll hear it here!

Hailed as “talented beyond belief” by the Montreal Gazette, Mike Delamont is an award-winning stand-up comic who has wowed sold-out crowds all across the country. Most famous for his legendary “God is a Scottish Drag Queen” show that Mike brought to a sold out house in Golden in 2016, Delamont is one of the funniest performers in Canada and he’ll prove that in two one hours shows at the Civic Centre on Thursday November 26.

Mike Pecora’s Retrofied have been off and on over the last decade … and now they’re definitely back! If you want a righteous blast of classic rock from the ‘60s through the ‘80s, then Retrofied is your glitter ball time machine back to when Elvis, Joe Walsh, AC/DC, and BTO ruled the airwaves. Coming Friday Dec 11 for two shows.

We’ve heard there’s an appetite in town to get out and see some Live Kicks shows and the safety of our audiences, volunteers, and staff is our priority. We will be taking all measures to provide a safe, sanitized, and comfortable concert setting following current regulations provided by the provincial government and WorkSafe BC

We will be selling a maximum of 50 tickets per show in our cabaret seating setup with a “bubble” of one to four folks per table. Each group will be 2 metres from each other. Given the layout of the Hall and washrooms we ask you wear a mask while entering and on the move. Once you’re seated, you’re OK to remove your mask.

Each show will be approximately 60 minutes start to finish. We will clean and sanitize in the 90 minutes between shows. If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms please do not attend; we will offer you a full refund. We will be posting a full Covid-19 plan for our shows soon.

Please become a Member and supporter of Kicking Horse Culture. Tickets for Members this Fall will be $15. For non-Members $20. Children and students always $5.

Tickets go on sale Oct 1 in person at the Art Gallery of Golden or call us at (250) 344-6186 to purchase over the phone.
