Chamber Music for SUMMER KICKS this Sunday and next Sunday Aug. 19!

TWO very special Chamber Music Concerts at the Civic Centre!

Presented by the Columbia Valley Chamber Music Festival in collaboration with Kicking Horse Culture

The mission of the Columbia Valley Chamber Music Festival is to provide outstanding musical performances to audiences in the communities of the Columbia Valley.

First: This Sunday evening August 12 at 7pm at the Civic Centre. This show is part of SUMMER KICKS and is FREE to all but, sorry little ones, really not suitable for hula hooping or chalking on the beautiful hardwood floor. Concert featuring the works of Richard Strauss, Martinu, Ginastera, and Dvorak

Second: The following Sunday, August 19 at 3pm in the afternoon. This show is admission by donation. All proceeds will go to the musicians. Concert featuring the works of Dvorak, Brahms, and Mozart

Lauren Robinson

Horn player/artistic director Lauren Robinson and her husband, bassist Jeffrey White, have been coming to the valley for many years and have always dreamed of starting a chamber music festival. The festival was born in 2011 with two concerts in Invermere.

Collaborating with KHC this year, the festival will perform these two concerts in Golden as well. The program will feature some well and lesser known pieces played in various instrumental combinations drawn from the 12 festival musicians. Instrumentation includes violin, cello, viola, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, double bass and piano… played on the Civic Centre’s beautiful new grand piano!
