Roy Forbes at the Civic Centre Jamboree shows

Celebrating 40 years singing for audiences around the world, we’re delighted to be able to snag Roy and haul him into Golden for the Civic Centre Jamboree shows. Roy’s originally a Dawson Creek boy (they named a street after him) but, headed down to Vancouver in ’71 to become a music guy under his nickname Bim.

Roy Forbes

Blessed with a unique voice that flies so high, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the roots of Roots music, and a charming way with an audience, you got to come see Roy in person… especially in our brand new home for the arts in Golden. A concert on the 30th starting at 7:30pm and a dance on the 31st kicking off at 9:30pm… two nights, two different shows. Gonna be a party!

Every now and then Roy gets together with Shari Ulrich (Pied Pumpkin) and Bill Henderson (Chilliwack) in the band they called UHF. Here’s Roy’s gorgeous song Lifting My Heart performed at Shari’s home on Bowen Island back in 1994. It’s a classic song and sung so beautifully. (n.b. click ahead to the 30 second mark)

For you Bim fans out there, here’s a little bit of nostalgia for you too!

And check out Roy’s incredible version of Hank Williams’ I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry Just perfect!
