Take a Look at the Bebop Cowboys!

OK… here’s an easy opportunity to take a listen and look at what’s coming up for the Jamboree celebrations at the Civic Centre on Dec. 30th and 31st. Click on audio and video below.

Steve Briggs - leader of the Bebop Cowboys

Here’s your introduction to Toronto’s Bebop Cowboys Western Swing Orchestra.

Lead by guitarist Steve Briggs and touted as Canada’s “Kings of Western Swing”, the Bebops never leave a dancehall without the audience on their feet. The Bebops’ third CD, CANADIAN DANCE HALL received critical acclaim as a celebration of the Canadian community dance halls of the 30s, 40s and 50s when western swing was at its most popular.

Steve Briggs, leader of the Bebops and musical director for our Jamboree shows, has performed, arranged and recorded with a wealth of artists, including Sylvia Tyson, Quartette, Russell deCarle, Murray McLauchlan and Carroll Baker, among many others. He’s also shared the stage with U.S. country legends like Merle Hagard.

Back in Golden in 1948, The Golden Notes were the house band at the Civic Centre grand opening dance. These two shows will be retro in feel but with a some very hot, contemporary musicians.

“They’ve got some serious chops happening.” Ross Porter, CEO, Jazz FM.91.
“A must-have for fans of western swing music. This is a very hot band!” Edmonton Journal

Like the old-time variety shows of the past, the Bebops will be the house band for both nights and will accompany Roy Forbes, Paul Pigat, Russell deCarle and Terra Hazelton to keep everything hopping.
