In the world of the blues you don’t get to flaunt a nickname unless you’ve earned it, and Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne more than has the chops to own that impressive moniker. A child prodigy on piano in the late 1950s, Wayne has flourished in the music scene for over 60 years. He has long been a master of blues and boogie woogie, and when Wayne hits his signature rollicking groove, with lots of strut and funk, any audience is helpless in the hands of this virtuosic and ebullient performer.

Based out of Vancouver these days, Wayne has a Juno on the mantle, alongside a number of Maple Blues Awards. He’s also released three memorable CDs through prestigious Stony Plain Records. And in 2017 he was inducted into America’s Boogie Woogie Piano Hall of Fame – a much-deserved honour, given that he spans several generations with his stellar playing, ranging from the rocketing 88s of Pinetop Perkins to the jump blues of Louis Jordan and forward to the irresistible, R&B-tinged pianistics of Fats Domino, Ray Charles, and Little Richard.

The man with the dazzling digits is also a first-class, soulful vocalist, and he performs good-time music at its finest. Although surpassingly capable as a solo artist, this charismatic showman is appearing with a five-piece band for an evening of fiery, foot-stomping joy that he’s billing A Rendezvous With The Blues.

Featuring classic songs of the “blues greats” plus Wayne’s own originals, this is one show you simply can’t afford to miss.
