Here’s your chance to spend a cozy evening celebrating Christmas with superlative tenor Ken Lavigne! A founding member of The Canadian Tenors, Lavigne is both an accomplished opera singer and a quintessentially charming and elegant romantic crooner.
Although still early into his career, Lavigne has recorded numerous CDs and given hundreds of performances throughout North America and around the world. A famed solo performer for 10 years now, Lavigne inaugurated his Christmas Musical Roadshow last December.
Backed by a four-piece band including piano, bass, guitar and violin with actress and singer Alison MacDonald as a special guest, Lavigne recreates the mood and style of an old-fashioned radio show with a specially dressed stage and all the trimmings. Those in attendance transform into the studio audience, and are regaled with entertaining stories, lots of humour, and a wide variety of Christmas songs ranging from the classic Bing Crosby version of Jingle Bells to O Holy Night, and from Sleigh Ride to Carol of the Bells.
“This is a throwback to the golden age of live radio, with special sound effects and a Christmas story – but one with our own modern spin on it,” explains Lavigne. Christmas is the perfect time for a bit of time travel back to a more nostalgic age, when happy memories and a spirit of goodwill were easier to come by. And what better host for that journey than golden-voiced Ken Lavigne, a marvelous singer whose beautiful lyricism, warm heart, and knack for storytelling will create a marvelous evening filled with seasonal magic.
