Many years in the planning, and 15 months for the construction and restoration, and the old brand new Civic Centre was re-opened the week before New Year’s 2011 with 5 days of celebratory events.
See the Civic Centre video on YouTube. This video shows the story of the restoration, enhancement and celebratory re-opening of the hall. Originally built by volunteers in 1948, the hall closed for construction in Sept 2010 and re-opened the week before New Year’s 2011.
