This shot was taken in the midst of a week-long paragliding (no motor, just thermals and walking) trip I did from Vernon, BC, to Canmore. I glided up East Creek, surely one of the more remote spots in southern BC, and wasn’t sure I would get the altitude to climb over the Bugs or not. I had to really search for a good thermal before climbing high over the Bugaboos, so the reward for me was not only the amazing view of a place I’ve been visiting since I was three years old, but also not having to spend two days hiking out East Creek with no trail! I’d dreamed of flying over the Bugaboos for more than 15 years, as has every paraglider pilot in BC. Moments where dreams become reality are few and far between, this was one of mine realized. I flew from Revelstoke to Invermere the day this picture was taken, and that was undoubtedly the best flight I’ve ever had. And I saw some new lines to climb.
