The Static Shift pre-teen concert at 4pm Sat Feb 24

The Static Shift live on stage. Old school groovin’ funk to bone-crunching blues-rock stompers!

KHC has booked The Static Shift to play an evening performance in our Live Kicks series on Feb. 24. Kicking Horse Culture and Interact Club of Golden are also collaborating to host and present The Static Shift in a 50 minute afternoon concert for an audience of “pre-teens” (grades 4 through 7) so these children can experience a rock ’n roll concert in a fun and safe environment — without the presence of their parents.  Click here to watch Interact Club’s video invitation!

A child must a have a VIP PASS to attend.
Application forms for a free VIP PASS are available at your school.
Home schoolers please contact us.

In addition to the band performing on stage we have other activities planned to animate the event including a dress-up costume vibe (come as your favourite pop star or style of music), a Photo Booth with DJ Mike Pecora, prizes for costumes, and more.

KHC raised the necessary funds to offer this concert free to Golden’s children and we’re so pleased and proud to be partnering with the leadership youth in the Interact Club – young people who have gained such a well-deserved reputation for considerate community engagement. After much discussion together, the invitation to get a VIP PASS goes out to those children in the community of elementary school age grades 4 through 7 who can participate without their parents while benefitting from the support and mentoring of older “brothers and sisters” (Interact Club members) with the backup of KHC staff, regular adult show volunteers, and Interact Club adult mentors.

Engaging children and youth in our community in arts and cultural activities has been a long-standing effort for Kicking Horse Culture. We have raised the funds for this event from a Community Presenters Youth Engagement grant and is dedicating significant staff and volunteer time. Having the vibrant and dependable Interact Club of young leaders partnering with us on this event provides what we think is a fantastic opportunity for this age-range of children in our community to have a fun and memorable musical experience – right here among friends in our own home town.

Who are The Static Shift? Well… meet them here. They were featured in the January 24th episode of CTV’s The Launch and were ultimately chosen to have their performance of the song Wide Awake “launched” to the world. Within a day it had reached #1 on iTunes rock list. We should mention that the young men of The Static Shift are now only 19 and 20 years of age and they’ve been playing together since they were 14… pretty impressive! KHC booked The Static Shift for a Summer Kicks show in 2016 and they were so good we booked them into our Live Kicks series … they’ll play that ticketed show at 7:30pm on the Saturday night.

Parents: application forms for a free VIP PASS are available from your child’s classroom teacher. Fill in the form, return it to class and KHC will provide a VIP PASS (worn around the neck) for your child for pick up at school. Parent’s of home schoolers (grades 4 to 7) please email us directly at info(at)kickinghorseculture.ca
